(FoxNews) Brian Mulcahy’s girlfriend says he should have been in jail before allegedly going on a rampage in a Waukesha neighborhood where two police officers were struck by a car. Mulcahy, 32, appeared in court on Friday on charges including two counts of first-degree intentional homicide for an attack that injured three others at an event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the famous Milwaukee beer.
He told police his reason for the rampage was the fact that he was upset that his child was not going to school.
The mother of Mulcahy’s child told Milwaukee Public Radio that the two were “cool” and that she was not thinking about protecting Mulcahy when she released him from jail the day before the attack.
She told the station her ex-boyfriend was supposed to be in court that day, but he wasn’t brought in for the court appearance, she added.
“He didn’t mean to. I mean, honestly, I really thought he was going to jail that day,” she said.
The woman, who has not been identified, added: “I don’t think he was capable of such a sick thing.”
In a similar interview, Fox6 News’ sister station, WITI, said several tenants in the home Mulcahy shared with his mother, Judy, recalled saying that he seemed volatile, had never liked certain people at the apartment, and was usually seen sleeping on a couch. Mulcahy left the apartment with his mother after the 14-year-old told her that Mulcahy had said he was going to kill her son’s father.
His family has refused to comment.
